Phantom

Accurate gas detection is crucial for quality control, safety, and efficiency across various industries. The PHANTOM project focuses on developing a flexible, photonic gas detection platform. Modularly combining advanced laser technologies, detectors, and compact photonic chips enables the creation of compact, highly sensitive, and affordable sensors for multiple market segments.
Within the PHANTOM consortium, Sensor Sense focuses specifically on the agrifood sector. Working in close collaboration with Radboud University Nijmegen, we are developing a new generation of gas detectors specifically designed for fruit storage facilities.
Our focus lies on:
- Cost reduction: Developing more affordable ethylene and 1-MCP detectors.
- Quality control: Accurately monitoring these gases to prevent premature ripening and optimize the storage quality of fruit.
- Field testing: To ensure the technology seamlessly integrates into practice extensive field tests in real-world storage environments with our partner, Storex will be conducted.
The PHANTOM project is co-funded by the European Union through the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund). The execution is coordinated and managed by Oost NL.
