Gelsonde

GELSONDE is an NWO Open Technology Program (OTP) research project aimed at overcoming the challenges of measuring nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) accurately on the ground and high in the atmosphere. The project brings together material chemists, meteorological experts, and sensor specialists to develop a new, affordable, and highly stable sensor.

Within this consortium, Sensor Sense focuses on transforming laboratory technology into a practical prototype. By combining innovative NO₂-signaling fluorescent gels (to be developed within the project by the Radboud University) with our expertise in robust gas handling and optical detection systems, we are helping build a lightweight, portable sensor capable of reliable deployment in KNMI weather balloons and localized industrial zones.
